Hello there!

Updated: Aug 18, 2020

Welcome to our little piece of the interwebs. I want to use our first blog post to introduce myself and share a bit about our farm and our family. Future topics will mostly be food and farm life oriented. So check back regularly for yummy recipes, pictures to make your mouth water and antics from the menagerie here on the homestead.

When my husband and I decided we wanted to make a life together we knew we wanted to raise our kids in the country and we wanted those theoretical kids to have the values and work ethic associated with those raised on a farm. I already had horses when we met and Sheldon was doomed to a future farm life from that point on. Now that isn't to say that plans haven't changed over time because I promise you this is not where I would have guessed we would be, but here we are and loving most minutes of this journey. What started as my dream to have a horse rescues has since become my dream to be sustainable and produce the vast majority of our food as well as supplying other families with wholesome table fare to help balance the cost of the farm.

We are now a family of 4 with enough animals to fill the ark( at least it seems that way most days). It is great to see the kids thriving on our land and watching the adventures they create. We just passed our one one year mark with this new property and its crazy the growth we have seen in that year. We currently raise Hereford hogs, chickens for eggs and meat as well as a few head of cattle each year. We are also working on getting our gardens established, so far we have had good production this year and it looks like the plants we got in the ground this spring will be great producers this fall.

I love this life and the challenges that come with it and can't wait to see what the future brings for our little farm.

Get out there and enjoy the sunshine.
